About Us

Our family has enjoyed the spoils of summer in Leland for over 50 years. It’s impossible to describe how much this community means to us. Some of my best memories have been out on the lake all day with nothing but the sun on my face and the shirt on my back.

Leland is where I learned to skip rocks and cast a line. It’s where I have taught my kids to swim and spot Petosky stones. It’s where I hope to bring my family for generations down the line. This place means as much to us as we mean to each other.

We’ve created Old School Outdoorsmen for two reasons. We want to contribute to the rich history of the community. Our goal is not only to commemorate your love of Hunting and Fishing in Michigan but also to become a part of that tradition, creating products that you look forward to every year.

With that, we also want to give back to the community that means so much to us. So, a percentage of all profits will be donated to the Leelanau Conservancy and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in an effort to protect and preserve everything we love about the character of our small, but strong community nestled up against the lakes.

“No one knows about it, but us.”

-Ernest Hemingway

Good Morning America voted Sleeping Bear the number one “Most Beautiful Place in the Nation”. Tim Allen chose to feather his nest against the crest of Lake Michigan. Mario Batali purchased property neighboring Sleeping Bear Dunes. But for some reason—no matter how many big names sidle up to our great lakes or how much attention we get in the media—our little corner of the U.S. remains the best-kept secret in the country.
